Diet and Nutrition
What is the recommended range of ketosis for members following our Curves Meal Plans?
Members should aim for the trace to moderate range of ketosis. The leaflet enclosed in the package can provide you with the most accurate information on how to use the strips.
What if I am not losing weight on the Curves weight loss program?
There are several reasons why a member may not be losing weight on the Curves meal plans. In order to identify the problem it is first necessary to review the member’s food diary and discuss any areas of concern. Talk to our Diet Seminar Trainer. She will look for non-compliance as well as insufficient calorie/carbohydrate intake. She will also review the meal plans with the member and instruct her to follow the plans closely for best results.
I suffer from milk allergies. Can I follow the Curves Weight loss program?
Dieters that suffer from milk allergies may be able to substitute soy-based milk and cheese products while following the Curves meal plans. However, it is suggested that they consult their personal physician to determine the best method of modification while following the program.
How can I modify the Curves weight loss program to fit a vegetarian-style diet?
The Curves weight-loss program is designed to include moderate fat intake, healthy carbohydrates in the form of fruits, grains and vegetables as well as increased protein. The plans have not been modified to accommodate a vegetarian diet as it takes careful consideration in food combining to ensure meals include vitamins, minerals and nutrients needed for healthy living. It is suggested that vegetarians consult a nutritional professional for further assistance in the development of a suitable diet plan.
Can nursing mothers follow the weight loss meal plans?
Nursing mothers should not participate in any diet program without the consent of their personal doctor. Many agree that nursing mothers need higher caloric intake in order to produce a wholesome quality of milk. Nursing mothers can move toward their pre-pregnancy weight by participating in the Curves workout at least 3 times per week and by cutting back on sugar and processed foods. They may consider following the Curves meal plans after their nursing experience has ended.
How much weight can I expect to lose while following the Curves Meal Plans?
Curves dieters can expect to lose between 6-10 lbs. on phase 1. After moving to Phase 2 and slightly increasing their caloric/carbohydrate intake they will see a more gradual loss of 1-2 pounds per week.
What is the substitute for the Curves shake?
The substitute for the Curves shake is 3 ounces of lean protein such as chicken, fish eggs or cheese.
Is it necessary to count the Carbs/calories in the Curves Complete or Curves Shake for members following the Curves Meal Plans?
It is not necessary to count the carbohydrate or caloric value of the Curves Complete or Curves shake for one serving daily. This is due to the minimal calories and carbs it contains that will be burned during the digestion process thus making it negligible in value.
Why do results fluctuate with the Omron readings?
The Omron is an inexpensive portable tool designed to give a general idea of body fat percentage. Because of its portability, it is not highly scientific in its assessment of body fat. Consider the Omron as a general and foundational tool to use in conjunction with routine weigh and measuring. Give merit to drops in pounds and inches as well as decreases in clothes sizes. Increases in self-esteem and energy levels are also great assessment tools.
What if I need to gain weight?
Members that need to gain weight should consider a weight gain formula Protein shake that contains at least 2,000 calories per day. These shakes usually provide between 1,500 and 2,000 additional calories of a quality nature. Further, those trying to gain weight should NOT consume refined carbohydrates. Instead they should consume complex carbohydrates such as whole grain foods.

Equipment
Why do my friends need an appointment when I get them a free pass?
Safety (and our insurance) requires that everyone be properly oriented with the equipment before being allowed to use it. That requires staff be scheduled to introduce the circuit to this new person, hence the need for the appointment.
I am very visual and like to learn things on my own time. Do you have “cue cards” for the equipment?
We have instructions online. Please don't be shy, that’s why we always have staff on hand.
